Senior Legal Counsel Commodity Trading & Shipping

This is a role for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel, that will work autonomously and mainly on metal trading, shipping and derivatives. The Senior Legal Counsel will report into the Head of Legal, and will provide the trading floor with live consultancy on metal trading.

Our client is one of the largest Financial Services organization, based in Switzerland, with a very solid amount of assets under management.

About the role:

• Commodities trade agreements;

• Solid experience with metal trading, shipping and related documentation;

• Commodities futures / derivatives;

• Claims and potential litigation;

• Assisting with legal structures, documentation and legal issues affecting the business;

About the candidate:

• At least 7-10 years experience in the commodity trading space, with focus on metal and shipping, in a top law firm and/or equivalent in-house role

• Bar Exam in a Commonwealth jurisdiction (an additional civil law jurisdiction would be ideal)

• Pro-activity and ability to think outside the box

• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills

• Ability to work with colleagues across multiple regions, to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and work with tight deadlines

• Fluent / professional English language is a must
