Data Engineer - Data Governance
A (Senior) Data Engineer role has become available at an international manufacturing firm leader in their field.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-on Data Engineering and Architecture
- Develop and implement robust data architecture frameworks, collaborating with the Global Data Architect to drive the future of data infrastructure.
- Engage in hands-on creation, maintenance, and enhancement of conceptual and logical data models to support business operations.
- Conduct data profiling and lifecycle checks for phased-out items, ensuring optimal data integrity and system performance.
Technical Data Management and Quality Control
- Lead data cleansing and migration efforts, executing uploads and corrections to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
- Write and optimize SQL and Python scripts to automate data checks, cleanups, and ensure data quality.
- Set up and enforce controls and alerts to maintain data integrity during item renumbering and classification processes.
Data Governance and Standardization
- Support the definition and implementation of data governance frameworks and standards across the organization.
- Collaborate with Data Domain Architects, Business Representatives, and Data Stewards to ensure consistent and high-quality data practices.
- Document and maintain data classification, data lineage, and data catalog initiatives to support governance activities.
Industry-Specific Data Solutions
- Apply knowledge of master data principles and classification frameworks within manufacturing or engineering contexts.
- Work closely with industry stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet operational needs and enhance business processes.
Skills:
- Proven experience in data engineering with a strong focus on SQL (mandatory) and Python (preferred) for data manipulation and automation.
- Extensive knowledge of data modeling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical) and experience with database systems (SQL and No-SQL).
- Experience with data architecture and governance principles, particularly in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with SAP data models is a plus
- Understanding of the manufacturing industry's data needs and the ability to tailor data solutions to meet these requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving and data quality enforcement.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical projects with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with IT teams, data stewards, and business stakeholders.
- Experience in stakeholder management and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Fluent English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, Data Management, or a related field.
