Lead Software Engineer - Trading Infrastructure

Location: Zurich or remote in UTC / UTC+1 / UTC+2 Tech stack: TypeScript, NestJS; React, Redux, HTML5, CSS3; Kafka, WebSockets; PostgreSQL, Redis; OpenAPI, AsyncAPI; Docker, AWS EKS, Kong; Nx Monorepo, Git Submodules Our client, a fast-growing fintech startup headquartered in Zürich, is seeking an Lead Software Engineer - Trading Infrastructure to help build and scale their next-generation trading systems. This is a critical leadership role with flexibility to work remotely within the EU timezone or from their Zürich office.

You will be responsible for shaping the architecture and performance of the company’s core trading systems. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will lead a remote team while staying hands-on with key backend development work.

You will:

• Architect and optimise backend trading infrastructure
• Drive development using TypeScript, NestJS, and Kafka
• Oversee deployments with AWS EKS, Kong, and Docker
• Maintain Nx monorepo and manage Git submodules
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers

You bring:

• A solid engineering foundation, with at least 5 years of full-stack experience and a focus on backend systems
• A collaborative approach and excellent communication skills in English
• The confidence to lead projects and mentor engineers across locations
• Strong experience in fintech or trading, building scalable systems in production
• Technical fluency in TypeScript, React, Redux, NestJS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis
• Familiarity with OpenAPI and AsyncAPI standards
• The confidence to lead projects and mentor engineers across locations
