Legal Counsel (8 months fixed term contract)

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team on a fixed-term contract (maternity leave cover). This role, set to commence in September 2025 and run until April 2026, is an excellent opportunity for someone with a legal degree and 1–3 years of professional experience, preferably gained in an in-house legal department. The successful candidate will support a wide range of legal matters across the business and work closely with various internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Legal Counsel, you will play an integral role within the in-house legal team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad variety of commercial contracts such as NDAs, service agreements, supplier/customer contracts
  • Provide legal support on corporate matters including governance, regulatory compliance, and company secretarial tasks
  • Assist with employment law issues in coordination with HR
  • Support the business in data protection and privacy compliance
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s activities
  • Contribute to internal training and development of legal templates, policies, and procedures

Key Requirements:

  • Law degree from a recognised university
  • 1–3 years of relevant legal experience ideally with exposure an in-house environment
  • Strong understanding of contract law, corporate law, and compliance topic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and business-oriented approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise in a dynamic environment
