Charlotte loves the dynamic of a job where no two days are the same and in which you have the chance to work with so many different people and organisations.
After my studies, I joined an international recruitment agency in Brussels focusing on recruiting accounting and finance professionals. After 1.5 years, I left to take on the role as Account Manager in a Digital Agency but soon missed the dynamic environment of recruitment. I’d always dreamt of living and working overseas, so when I got in touch with Robert Walters and they offered me a position in their offices in Bangkok, Thailand, my decision was easily made. After 4.5 years in Bangkok, I had a chance to relocate again, but this time joining the Swiss team in Zurich.
Working at Robert Walters means working in a fast-paced environment where quality work will lead to meaningful long-term relationships. Every day is different, and every role comes with its own challenges that will push you further to true fulfilment.
We’re a very close-knit team that is supportive and collaborative. Working with people who are passionate about what they do is a great motivator for everyone. I particularly love the dynamic of a job where no two days are the same and in which you have the chance to work with so many different people and organisations.
In our job, it’s so important to build a close relationship with both clients and candidates. It’s not enough to just simply understand their background – you must be able to also recognise their motivators and aspirations. I focus on long-term relationships, maintaining open and transparent communication with both my clients and candidates. By continuously connecting with people within my industry means I’m able to ‘remain on the pulse’ with an accurate view of the market and its position.
It is really fulfilling when you work truly as a business partner with clients and when you’re able to support candidates with their next career move, assisting them in achieving their life goals. Recently, I accepted the placement of a very niche role which my client believed would be almost impossible to find the right person for. By taking the time to fully understand the client’s needs, through regular catch ups and by reaching out to talent outside of the local market, I was able to source and place the right candidate for this extremely hard to fill role.
If you have a commercial mindset, enjoy engaging with people and have a good portion of resilience, recruitment is a great career where you can apply previous (technical) working experience to help both clients and candidates. I can only encourage everyone to come and meet us! Talking to our consultants and managers will give you an understanding of what it is exactly that we do and what it takes to be a great recruiter.
