Head of Legal Securities Services

This is a highly specialised role requiring deep expertise in securities services, post-trade infrastructure, and financial markets regulation. This opportunity is best suited to candidates who have built their careers within clearing, settlement, custody, securities finance, exchanges, central counterparties, central securities depositories, or similarly regulated market infrastructure environments.

About the Role

You will lead the legal and regulatory function for a complex international securities services business operating across multiple European jurisdictions.

The role covers legal oversight of activities including:

• Clearing, settlement, and custody services
• Securities finance, repo, and collateral management
• Trade repository and regulatory reporting services
• Digital asset and post-trade infrastructure services

You will advise senior business leadership on strategic legal and regulatory matters, oversee legal risk across regulated entities, support cross-border corporate and regulatory projects, and implement effective governance and legal frameworks across the business.

The position also includes leadership responsibility for an international legal team based across Europe, with a strong focus on stakeholder management, operational execution, and driving high performance within a complex regulated environment.

About the Candidate

You are a qualified lawyer with significant experience gained within financial market infrastructure, securities services, or post-trade environments. Candidates from broader financial services backgrounds without direct exposure to securities or market infrastructure are unlikely to be a fit for this role.

You will bring:

• Strong expertise in European financial markets regulation, including frameworks such as EMIR, CSDR, MiFID II/MiFIR, and related regulations
• Experience advising on legal and regulatory matters relating to clearing, settlement, custody, securities finance, or trade reporting
• Proven capability managing complex cross-border legal and regulatory projects
• Experience leading international legal teams and operating in fast-paced, highly regulated businesses
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
• Fluency in English and German is required
