Infrastructure & Data Center Engineer

A high-impact engineering opportunity is available with an international technology company operating a mission-critical platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Virtualization & Linux systems: Operate Proxmox (or VMware) clusters, Linux VMs, templates, snapshots, and lifecycle management.
• Storage & backup: Administer Ceph/ZFS or similar storage; own backup/restore, DR tests, and capacity planning.
• Server & data center operations: Manage physical servers (HP/Dell etc.), RAID, firmware, hardware replacement, and monitoring of power, temperature, and environmental conditions.
• Rack & cabling work: Perform on-site rack work in colocation/telehouses (mounting equipment, cabling, patching, labeling).
• Core infrastructure services: Support DNS, DHCP, NTP, certificates, and basic network services used by applications.
• Monitoring & documentation: Use Zabbix/Nagios/Cacti or similar for proactive monitoring; maintain inventories, lifecycle plans, and ISO 27001-aligned documentation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with network/telco colleagues on connectivity, incidents, changes, and vendor coordination.

Profile:

• Must have:
• Hands-on experience with virtualization (Proxmox or VMware) and Linux system administration.
• Solid understanding of storage (Ceph, ZFS, or comparable) and backup/restore concepts.
• Strong server hardware skills and real data center operations experience (racks, cabling, hardware health, power, environment).
• Comfortable with on-site work in racks and colocation facilities.
• Should have:
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, NTP, and basic TCP/IP troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti, or similar).
• Basic understanding of Cisco networking, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Structured documentation habits, ideally in an ISO 27001 context.
• Optional (nice to have):
• Exposure to telco/messaging concepts (SMPP, SS7/Sigtran, SMSC/STP, SMS services).
• Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for routine automation.
• Microsoft 365/Entra/Intune and end-user support for a 50+ person office environment.
• Fluent English is required; German is a strong advantage.
