Senior Legal Counsel - US market

Sauvegarder l'offre d'emploi

A leading global FMCG company is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel in its Zug office to support legal matters across the US and distribution markets. This key role involves partnering closely with the business, balancing legal risk with commercial goals in a fast-paced environment. The company offers an inclusive culture, strong leadership, and career growth in a collaborative, multicultural setting. Regular travel and engagement with senior stakeholders make this a rewarding opportunity for an experienced legal professional ready to make a real impact.

What you'll do:

As Senior Legal Counsel you will support the company by advising on complex commercial agreements, regulatory issues, and regional legal risks. You'll work closely with management to align legal strategies with business goals, while also contributing to global projects and compliance initiatives. This role offers a dynamic mix of strategic and hands-on legal work in a collaborative, international environment.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts to support business goals and ensure legal compliance.
  • Advise internal teams on legal matters, promoting risk awareness and providing practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks in the FMCG sector, staying current with evolving market and regulatory conditions.
  • Maintain and develop regional legal knowledge, particularly in the US and distribution countries, in collaboration with external counsel.
  • Align legal support with strategic objectives through regular engagement with management and travel to US offices.
  • Lead or support legal initiatives, compliance projects, and training sessions while fostering a culture of integrity and operational excellence.

What you bring:

To succeed as Senior Legal Counsel, you should have significant experience in complex commercial legal work within multinational, preferably FMCG, environments, supported by an advanced law degree. Expertise in areas such as contract negotiation, antitrust, marketing law, procurement, and litigation is essential. Just as important are strong interpersonal skills—enabling clear communication, cross-cultural collaboration, leadership influence, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset that balances compliance with business goals.

  • Master’s degree in law, preferably from a US university, with specialisation in commercial contracts, antitrust, marketing/advertising, procurement, litigation, and external counsel management.
  • 6–10 years of post-qualification experience in top-tier law firms and in-house roles within multinational FMCG, retail, or similar industries.
  • Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, managing cross-border legal risks, and handling regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
  • In-depth knowledge of FMCG operations, US and international market regulations, and legal know-how management practices.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional projects, and drive continuous improvement in legal and compliance processes.
  • Comfortable working independently in a global, matrixed environment
  • Fluent in English, with additional languages a plus

What sets this company apart:

This international FMCG company combines the stability of a publicly listed firm with the agility of a fast-moving, collaborative culture. Employees are empowered through cross-functional teamwork, supportive leadership, and ongoing development opportunities in an inclusive, integrity-driven environment. It’s a place where you can contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions and shape outcomes alongside some of the industry’s most talented professionals.
