Interim Senior Accountant 50% ASAP

For our client, an established company in the food industry based in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced temporary Senior Accounting support on a short-term basis, at a workload of approximately 50% until end of March 2027. The background is to ensure continuity within the finance function. The existing team remains operationally in the lead for the day-to-day business, but requires additional technical and operational support from a highly experienced professional.

About the job:

• Ensuring continuity in accounting during the transition period
• Supporting monthly, quarterly and in particular year-end closings under the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR) / Swiss GAAP
• Assisting with account reconciliations, accruals and provisions
• Supporting reconciliations, closing activities and technical quality assurance
• Coaching and supporting in day-to-day business and closing activities
• Working closely with the existing finance team as well as, where required, external audit
• Taking a leading technical role in the 2026 year-end closing in particular, guiding the existing team through the entire closing process
• Supporting ad-hoc analyses and reporting for management

About you:

• Several years of professional experience in finance and accounting in a senior role
• Solid experience preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements under OR / Swiss GAAP
• Experience in an SME or industrial environment is an advantage
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to contribute operationally
• Experience coaching or guiding less experienced team members
• Independent, structured and solutions-oriented way of working
• Fluent English is essential; German intermediate level (B2)
